Project Architects:  that are seeking a long-term opportunity and will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of projects from beginning to end. You will be responsible for managing team members involved in the project, coordinate all construction documents including drawings and specifications, work directly with Clients and Contractors, and preform Construction Administration duties during construction of projects.

Responsibilities

  • As a senior team member, Project Architect’s responsibilities, in conjunction with a Project Manager, include:
  • Assist in leading team members and coordinate the work of the team through multiple phases of a project.
  • Required to assist in designing and drafting plans.
  • Required to take part in meetings with Clients and incorporate their needs throughout multiple phases of a project.
  • Required to work with multi disciplines and coordinate all drawings/specifications.
  • Provide quality assurance and technical reviews throughout multiple phase of projects.
  • Required to review architectural drawings and provide technical details, red line corrections and direction on construction documents for architectural techs.
  • Required to review drawings for code compliance.
  • Meet with various governing agencies to review code compliance on projects.
  • Required to coordinate full sets of contract documents including drawings and writing architectural specifications for bidding.
  • Required to attend and conduct site meetings with Clients and Contractors.
  • Required to provide Construction Administration services such as review submittals/shop drawings, put together ASI’s, review change order requests, and answer contractor questions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree required
  • Registered Architect Preferred but not required
  • Minimum two years' experience working as a Project Architect or Project Manager
  • At least 5 years working in Construction Administration on commercial projects.
  • Strong technical project detailing and documentation skills required.
  • Experience in working directly with clients
  • Experience in preparation of architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Experience in establishing project fees, budgets and schedules.
  • Experience in managing project fee budgets and project schedules.


Civil Engineering Designer / Construction Observer:  HGM is looking for a highly motivated Design Technician or a Civil Engineer Intern.   

Requirements:  2-year degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a 4-year degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with an FE certificate, self motivated and able to work 8-10 hours/day and 5-6 days/week (during construction season), experienced in Microsoft programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and a valid driver’s license 

Necessary Skills:  Ability to work on a team, possess good written and verbal communication skills, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and work within critical deadlines.

Preferred Skills: Able to read and understand project plans, specifications and project schedules, familiar with typical construction activities to include grading; culvert, storm and sanitary sewer installation; PCC and HMA paving; structural concrete placement; and erosion control installation, daily coordination and interaction with general contractor and sub-contractors, owners personnel, utility companies, project management team, design team, and materials testing personnel, certified in Iowa DOT AGG1, PCC1 and HMA Sampler preferred, understanding of topographical and construction survey procedures, able to read, understand and interpret design standards and guides, knowledge of MicroStation and Geopak or Autocad Civil 3D, prior job experience in roadway, grading or utility design and construction.


Civil/Structural Engineer– Specializing in Bridge design
Prefer 2 to 6 years experience with design of highway and/or railroad bridges.  Knowledge of general state and federal requirements for bridge design and construction.   Use of various design software packages and CADD tools.  Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling a plus. Civil Design Engineer
Municipal and Infrastructure design for our Council Bluffs Office for work in the Omaha metro and surrounding areas.
Following are major Characteristics that we are seeking:
Self-starter; able to work through project design with limited direction after initial training

  • P.E. or E.I. with desire to acquire P.E.
  • Design knowledge utilizing Civil 3D and/or MicroStation preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to prioritize efforts on multiple projects and meet project schedules

Microstation Design and Drafting Technician
Municipal and Infrastructure design and drafting for our Council Bluffs Office for work in the Omaha metro and surrounding areas.

  • 5-10 –years of experience as a design technician; OR
  • 2 year tech degree and commensurate experience
  • Detailed oriented and good communicator
  • Able to read and understand drafting standards, project plans, and project schedule
  • Prompt and able to work overtime when required due to project schedule
  • Experienced in Microsoft programs OUTLOOK, WORD and EXCEL
  • Strong experience with Microstation or AutoCAD required, Civil 3D experience preferred


Transportation Design Engineer
for our Council Bluffs Office.  Work would be mostly for the Iowa Department of Transportation, Counties and the Nebraska Department of Roads. Following are major Characteristics that we are seeking:

  • Self-starter; able to follow up with limited direction
  • 2-6 years of transportation related experience
  • P.E. or E.I. with desire to acquire P.E.
  • Design knowledge utilizing MicroStation/Geopak in a transportation format
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to prioritize efforts on multiple projects and meet project schedules

  • 5-10 –years of experience as a construction observer on roadway projects; OR
  • 4 year degree in civil or construction engineer; OR
  • 2 year degree and commensurate experience
  • Detailed oriented and good communicator
  • Able to read and understand project plans, specifications and project schedule
  • Prompt and can work 8-12 hours/day and 5-6 days/week
  • Experienced in Microsoft programs WORD and EXCEL and Site Manager; Field Book and Doc Express programs a plus
  • Familiar with typical construction activities to include grading,
  • Daily outside activities to include daily diary, daily measurement of quantities, contractors request for information, field orders, change orders, contractors pay requests
  • Substantial completion and final inspection walk-thru and punch list
  • Daily coordination and interaction with general contractor and sub-contractors, owners personnel, Utility Companies, Project Management Team, design team, and materials testing personnel
  • CAD skills beneficial
  • Valid driver’s license required
